Mrs. Alice Hammonds, daughter of Pink and Lula Fletcher, was born on January 10, 1937, in Clinton, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully from this life on June 21, 2021.
She received her education in the public school system in Newton Grove, North Carolina. After graduating she relocated from North Carolina to New York City where she met and married her late husband Leon Hammonds in 1975.
Alice was a joy to her family and friends. She went out of her way to be there for evewryone. She was always listening and comforting others. If you had a problem and needed help she would never turn you away. There was always an open door to her home and a seat at her table. Her love will always remain in our hearts and our memories.
Alice was a devoted member of Shrub Branch Missionary Baptist Church, in Blacksville, South Carolina. She always found comfort in reading Psalm 23, one of her favorite go to scriptures, and the Lord's Prayer.
Preceding her in death were three sisters: Louise Peacock, Alease Oates and Lois Lowe; two brothers: Joe King and Thomas Fletcher. She leaves to cherish her memories, her goddaughter Valerie of New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
