He decided to join the Army Reserve where he served for 4 years in that Tour of Duty he served in Desert Storm. During that time, Eric obtained various trades. This ignited a fire in him where he took on the challenge to self-educate himself in carpentry by putting things together and fixing things up.
Eric had an old soul and had a passion for older woman, but the younger ones were right on his heels. He thought of himself as quite the “charmer”. His nieces and nephews would say “All right Uncle E”, especially when he would put on his Reggae music and spoke in his Jamaican accent. On March 29, 2009, Eric the charmer was blessed with a baby girl named Erica, who instantly become the love of his life.
On Saturday, July 25, 2020, Eric transitioned from this world to the next. He was preceded by his 2 brothers, James Gary and Michael Gary, and his nephew Sherman Durden, Jr.
