Inez Ferguson - Shaw was born in Charleston, S.C. on August 23, 1935 to the Late Eddie Johnson and the Late Evelina Ferguson - Carter. At an early age she was raised by her grandparents the Late Mr. Willie Ferguson and the Late Elizabeth Bash - Ferguson.
Inez spent her early years living at the Ophir Plantation, from there the family moved to Greenpond, S.C. and the Haynesville section of Moncks Corner. From Moncks Corner Inez moved to Rockhill, S.C. ultimately to Brooklyn, New York in the early 1950's. While in New York
Inez proved to be a resourceful woman by working odd jobs crafting belt buckels, cleaning, and caregiving. As a caregiver Inez found her passion for nuturing children. Inez had such a quiet strength and an abundance of love and all who became acquainted with her coined the moniker Nana. Inez "Nana" continued caring for children until the mid to late 2000. Around 2011 Inez begain to exhibit signs of Alzheimers. In spite of it Inez continued to provide for her family and shown resilience in this adversity. Inez found comfort in reading, crossword puzzels, and talking with family members and close friends. As the loving matriach, Inez was sure to dismiss worries concerning her health by remaining active. As her ailment would render her unable to continue these tasks, God sent His angel on July 23, 2020 to call Inez home and allowed her rest.

Step- daughter Helen Sargent ( Bklyn, N.Y.), son Jonathan Shaw (Deceased), Son- In- Law (Paul "Budha" Clemente (Charleston, S.C.), Grand - children Nicole, Michelle, Tessie, Shanel, Emaris(Deceased), Mylasia, Kimani, Jayla, Janiah, Ashontay and her mother Shaunique, Great - grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
