Juanita Robertson was born June 20, 1938 in Allendale, South Carolina. She was the only daughter of the late Glennie Barker Fields and John Henry Roberts. Juanita and her first cousin, Edna S. Pilgrim were raised up together as little girls and attended school in Allendale.
Juanita and her family relocated from South Carolina to Brooklyn, New York. She attended and graduated from Fashion Industry High School in Manhattan, New York. Juanita met and married Ernest Robertson, Sr. in 1958 and they were married for 56 years. Ernest preceded her in death in 2014. To this beautiful union, 5 children were born, Brenda, Corinne, Ernest, Jr., Linda, and Stephanie.
Juanita joined the Mt. Ollie Baptist Church in May of 1958 under the leadership of the late Rev. R.D. Brown. She was a member of the Missionary Ministry, Pastor’s Aide, and a singer in the Inspirational Ensemble. Juanita remained a faithful member under Pastor’s, Rev. Dr. Spurgeon E. Crayton, Rev. Reginald L. Bachus and her present pastor. Rev. Rodney McFarland, Jr.
Juanita worked as a childcare provider for many years. She also worked with the Police Athletic League (PAL) for a short time as she always had an interest in helping and aiding children. Juanita was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved God and her church family.
Juanita departed this life on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Brookdale Hospital. Juanita was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sharmea.
She leaves to mourn, but cherish her memories, her children, Brenda, Corinne, Stephanie, Ernest, Jr. (Bubber) and Linda, grandchildren, Maria, Anthony, Tamica, Tyron, Edison, Anisha and Talani; great grandchildren, Ra-Ra, Jada, Amari, Taniya, Anthony, Jr., Ye-Ye, Sarinity, Amore, Jayden, Antoinette, Yani, Alexus and Aaron; great great grandson, King, who was the light of her life; cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and her Mt. Ollie Church Family.
