Marilyn Clark, daughter of the late Winford Clark and Mary Newell was born on February 17, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the third out of seven children.
Marilyn’s Education
Marilyn was raised in Bennetsville, South Carolina and relocated back to New York in 1970. Her education consisted of Franklin K. Lane High School, where she received her diploma with honors in 1972. She then attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College and received her Associates Degree in Arts in 1978. In 1981, Marilyn received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She continued her education and received her Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Fordham University. Later, she acquired her (LMSW) License Master’s in Social Work.
Employment
Marilyn worked as a Social Worker for thirty plus years, primarily for ACS. During that time, she also worked as a Union Delegate, where she exemplified a sincere compassion for her position. She later retired in 2016 from ACS; however, she continued working with the Union, providing her work experiences in various cases.
Life as a Christian
Marilyn joined the New Canaan Baptist Church under the late Dr. A.L. Cunningham in 1980. She served as the President of Matron Missionaries and thereafter, she became the Church Clerk. She later became a member The Calvary U.F.W. Baptist Church under the Leadership of Apostle Clenso Allen. Marilyn served as a Sunday School Student, Teacher, Choir Member, Sunday Secretary, Singles President and managed the Book Store. Her present position was Church Administrator.
Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories her siblings, Phillip (Ora) of Florence, South Carolina; Juanita of Brooklyn, New York and Roy (Linda) of Albany, New York; a host of nieces and nephews, god- children, Keya Fowler (Pepper Head), Taylor, Tia, Tamar, Taj, Brianna and Donika; three grand god- children, Kisler, Victoria and Victor.
